The popular SandJam Presented by Pepsi is moving from late April to October 1-3, 2021, organizers announced today. Additionally, the 4th annual rock music festival is relocating from M.B. Miller Pier to Frank Brown Park in beautiful Panama City Beach, due in part to loggerhead turtle nesting on the beach. Headliners for the event will be announced in the coming weeks.
“Between COVID, artist availability, our loggerhead turtles and a host of other things, 2020 has been all about juggling,” said Executive Producer Rendy Lovelady. “We love having SandJam on the beach, but the turtles are an extremely important part of our ecosystem here. Our fans will still get to spend the day on the beach before heading over to hear some fantastic rock music.”
The Panama City Beach City Council recently made a major commitment to SandJam organizers by approving a five-year agreement keep the festival in the city. According the Panama City News Herald, City Manager Tony O’Rourke said music festivals are not only a crucial economic driver, but part of the Beach’s identity.
“This huge show of support from our city and our residents,” said SandJam COO Mark Sheldon. “Great music and beautiful beaches bring thousands of fun-loving people here, and supporting local restaurants, retail businesses and filling hotels and condos is a boon for the local economy.”
